MIDI Captain MAX (MCM) is an alternative firmware and configuration system for the Paint Audio MIDI Captain foot controller.

Unlike the stock firmware, MCM is designed to be bidirectional and host-aware. Your DAW, plugin, or MIDI host can actively control the device — including LEDs and display state — not just receive footswitch presses.

This is an early access release intended for technically comfortable users who want deeper control, visual feedback, and host-driven interaction today.
